| The "Yellow Flag With Red Stripes" Is Defined In Appendix H of the International Sporting Code As Follows:
15.7 Yellow flag with Red stripes - Stationary:
Slippery surface ahead.
15.8 Yellow flag with Red stripes - Waved: Slippery
surface imminent.
In practical term, this flag is more commonly known as the "Change of Surface Flag" or the "oil Flag". It is NOT used for large debris such as bumpers or bits of cars etc. (A yellow flag would be used for these.) Usually we avoid waving this flag in the conventional "figure-of-8" style, as it is difficult for the drivers to determine if it is a red, yellow, or chang-of-surface flag that they are seeing. If there is a severe oil spill or alot of gravel has been deposited on the track, then the flag can be moved up and down to draw attention to it.
