| The White Flag Is Defined In Appendix H of the International Sporting Code As Follows:
15.4 White flag - A service car or slow moving car is
on the circuit. The white flag should be waved to
indicate the sector of the track that the slow moving
vehicle is in, and held stationary whilst the vehicle is
in the next sector.
In practical terms the white flag can be applied to the following: Rescue Units, Amubulances, Tow Vehicles, A competitors car that has a mechanical problem but is still moving (if it stops, it may become a cause for a yellow flag depending on where it stops). The driver of a non-competing single-seater will usually raise one arm in the air to denote they are non-competing.
Note that the white flag is NOT used for the Safety Car. See Safety Car For Details.
